The Swedish Institute College of Health Sciences
The Swedish Institute College of Health Sciences has been dedicated to a natural approach to health care since its inception in 1916. The school was founded by Captain Theodore Melander, a Swedish native. Initially, it was called the Swedish Institute for Physiotherapy. The school taught a system of massage therapy, exercise and external applications that were popular in Europe at the time. The Swedish Institute College of Health Sciences has maintained a focus on licensed massage therapy through the years, and has the oldest Massage Therapy Program in the country. It recently celebrated its 90th anniversary and 100 years of instruction for the massage therapist is right around the corner. more
